Eligibility. The Thomson Reuters Spring 2022 – iPad Mini Class Sweepstakes ("Sweepstakes") is open to legal residents of the 50 United States, the District of Columbia, or Puerto Rico who are 18 (19 in AL and NE) years of age or older, are enrolled in a school-approved course of study as a full or part-time first year law student at a participating accredited law school at the time of entry and have a Thomson Reuters Westlaw student password (“Eligible Student”). Employees, officers and directors of Thomson Reuters (“Sponsor”), Gage Marketing Group, LLC (“Administrator”), their respective parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising/promotional agencies and the members of their immediate family (parents, siblings, children and spouse) regardless of where they live or those persons living in the same household of such employees/officers/directors, whether related or not, are ineligible (with the exception that West Student Representatives are eligible). THIS SWEEPSTAKES IS NOT OPEN TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC.
Entry Period. Sweepstakes begins at 12:00:00 AM Central Time (CT) on February 6, 2022 and ends at 11:59:59 PM CT on February 20, 2022 ("Entry Period"). Administrator’s computer is the official clock for the purposes of the Sweepstakes.
How to Enter. During the Entry Period, an Eligible Student will receive one (1) entry when that Eligible Student completes the following four eLearning lessons in the Thomson Reuters Knowledge Center that make up the “mini class”

Random Drawings; Odds of Winning; Winner Notification: Fifteen (15) potential winners will be drawn at random from all entries received at the end of the entry period. Odds of winning depends on the number of entries received as of the end of the period. Winning a prize is contingent upon potential prize winner meeting all eligibility requirements. Limit of one (1) prize per Eligible Student. Potential prize winners will be contacted at their email address on file with Thomson Reuters Westlaw. If a potential winner cannot be contacted, or if any prize notification/prize is returned as undeliverable, such potential winner will be automatically disqualified and an alternate potential winner may be selected. The Sponsor and Administrator are not responsible for and shall not be liable for unsuccessful efforts to notify potential winners.
The Administrator will conduct the drawings. By participating, entrants agree to abide by the Sponsor’s and Administrator’s decisions which are final and binding in all matters relating to the Sweepstakes.
Fifteen (15) Prizes – Each winner will receive one (1) Apple iPad Mini* (approximate retail value $299.99). No prize substitution, but Sponsor may, at its sole discretion, substitute the prize with a prize of equal or greater value if the advertised prize becomes unavailable for any reason. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. All federal, state and local taxes are the sole responsibility of each winner. Any Commonwealth of Puerto Rico taxes or assessments levied on the prizes as of the date of delivery thereof to the winner shall be the winner’s sole responsibility. Prize winners will each be issued an IRS Form 1099 for the value of the prize and are advised to seek independent counsel regarding the tax implications of his/her respective prize winnings. Any unspecified incidental expenses associated with acceptance and/or use of prize is winner’s sole responsibility. Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be assigned. Total approximate prize value -- $4500.
GENERAL TERMS: Participation in this Sweepstakes constitutes full acceptance of all of these rules. Failure to comply with these Official Rules or the taking of any action which is contrary to the fair administration of this Sweepstakes shall disqualify the entrant.
By entering the Sweepstakes, entrants grant Sponsor, their respective affiliates, and successors a non-exclusive, royalty-free, and irrevocable license to use, publish, display, distribute the Entrant’s name, likeness, statements (written or oral) and place of residence (city and state) in any and all markets and media worldwide in perpetuity without additional compensation, notification, permission or approval for the purpose of announcing the winner, and promoting the Sweepstakes or similar future sweepstakes.
By entering the Sweepstakes, entrants release Sponsor, affiliates, successors and their agents and employees (the “Released Parties”) from any liability, illness, injury, death, loss, or damages or losses to any person or property of any kind that may occur, directly or indirectly, whether caused by negligence or not, from such entrant’s participation in the Sweepstakes or resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from acceptance, possession, use or misuse of any Prize or any portion thereof (including any travel related thereto). Released Parties disclaim any and all liability or responsibility for disputes arising between an employee/agent and his/her employer (or other principal-agent relationships) related to this Sweepstakes.
Decisions by Sponsor regarding eligibility, drawing and winner shall be final. This Sweepstakes may be terminated, modified or suspended by Sponsor in its sole discretion at any time for any reason without any obligation.
Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any entrant it finds to be tampering with the entry process or operation of the drawing; to be acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner; or to have otherwise violated any of the Official Rules.
ANY ATTEMPT BY A CONTESTANT, INDIVIDUAL, OR ORGANIZATION TO DELIBERATELY UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE SWEEPSTAKES MAY BE A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS, AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH INDIVIDUAL OR ORGANIZATION TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. The failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not be deemed a waiver of that provision.
Sponsor, and its employees, affiliates, contractors, representatives and legal advisors, are not responsible for: (1) technical, hardware or software malfunctions, lost or unavailable network connections, or failed, incorrect, inaccurate, incomplete or garbled or delayed electronic communications, whether caused by the Entrant or by the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in this Sweepstakes or by any human error or unauthorized intervention which may occur in the processing of the entries or administration of this Sweepstakes; (2) entries which are not received or accounted for due to the foregoing technical issues or any other reason whatsoever; (3) any printing or typographical errors in any material related to the Sweepstakes or (4) any injury or damage resulting directly or indirectly from an entrant’s participation in the Sweepstakes, nor acceptance, receipt, use or misuse of any prize.
Under no circumstances will Entrant be permitted to recover awards for, and Entrant hereby waives all rights to claim, punitive, incidental and consequential damages and any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses associated with entering this Sweepstakes, and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE LIMITATIONS OR EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, SO THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
Under no circumstances shall any Entrant or other entity or person have any right to audit the records of Sponsor in connection with this Sweepstakes.
The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these Official Rules shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision. In the event that any provision is determined to be invalid or otherwise unenforceable or illegal, these Official Rules shall otherwise remain in effect and shall be construed in accordance with their terms as if the invalid or illegal provision were not contained herein. Headings and captions are used in these Official Rules solely for ease of reference and shall not be deemed to affect in any manner the meaning or intent of these Official Rules or any provision hereof. These Official Rules cannot be modified or amended in any way except in writing by a duly authorized representative of Sponsor.
Entrant agrees that any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of or connected with the Sweepstakes or any Prize awarded and all issues and questions concerning the validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively in a court of competent jurisdiction sitting in Minnesota. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of the entrant and Sponsor in connection with the Sweepstakes, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the State of Minnesota, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules, which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than the State of Minnesota.
Any and all disputes arising out of this Sweepstakes shall be brought within one year of the end of the Sweepstakes Period, notwithstanding any contrary statute of limitations.
